Dragons of Legerdemain

                                  Dragon Eggs

Dragons are extremely attentive parents and are very protective of their young. Female dragons only lay eggs every ten years. After laying, the enzyme that enables incubation to occur must be activated by dragon fire. Before activation, dragon eggs can exist in a sort of stasis indefinitely. This serves as a protective mechanism. If laying occurs during a time of high stress or danger, the mother dragon will hide her egg in a safe place until she can return to activate it.

These dragon eggs were found by explorers in the Soulless Mountains. Will your home be a safe haven for them, until a dragon can activate their incubation?

family-portrait-3-completeThe Legend:

Before the founding of Legerdemain, the Land Between the Rivers was inhabited by dragons. They dwelt in the Soulless Mountains, and came to the Land Between the Rivers to hunt and spread their wings. The Land Between the Rivers, which came to be known as the Dragonland, was considered sacred, and few dared venture there.

During that time, a war broke out between the Four Nations: the Agriculturalists in the central country, the Barbarians across the channel in the south, the Magicians across the sea to the west, and the Philosophers across the desert to the east.

Refugees from the Four Nations ventured north, to the Dragonland, and offered the dragons fealty in exchange for safety from the war. Those refugees formed the nation of Legerdemain.

The Legerdemainians became known as Children of the Dragons, and legend stated their tiny nation would always be protected. Over time, as the dragons died out, the name was lost.

Little is known about why the dragons disappeared, but legends say their bodies became the priceless gemstones, mined from the Soulless Mountains, for which Legerdemain became famous. And though most prophecies were lost to history, it is still believed that at the end of time, the dragons will return to usher Legerdemain into a new era of peace and prosperity.
